Volleyball Falls to Lions at Regional Crossover

FLORENCE, Ala.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped their fifth straight match on Friday 3-0 to the North Alabama Lions in the UNA Regional Crossover Tournament at Flowers Hall. Barry fell 30-27, 30-26, 30-21.
 
The Bucs (4-7) led 20-15 in game one, but the Lions (6-7) rolled off a 10-3 run to take control of the game and cruised to a 1-0 lead 30-27.
 
It was déjà vu all over again in game two. The Bucs built a 21-15 lead and led at late as 26-25 before the Lions scored five straight points to take the game.
 
In the final game, the Bucs never built more than a one-point lead and the Lions closed the match with a 8-1 run over the last nine point to seal the win.
 
Camilla Pagnan led the Bucs in kills again with 13, while Spenser Rigg and Meisje-Sable Burton had 10 each. Burton had no errors on 17 attacks for a .588 attack percentage. Lauren Evans (12), Rigg (11) and Pagnan (10) each had double figures in digs.
 
Danielle Palasak led the Lions with 20 kills and a .439 attack percentage. Kelly Pratt added 16 kills on .324 hitting. Jessican had 25 digs and four service aces.
 
The Buccaneers take on Harding at 1:30 pm and Montevallo at 5:30 pm on Saturday to close out the tournament.

Volleyball Drops Opener At Regional Crossover
 
FLORENCE, Ala.—The Barry Buccaneers (4-6) dropped the opening match of the UNA Regional Crossover Tournament 3-1 to the Henderson State Reddies at Flowers Hall on Friday. Game scores were 31-29,32-30,18-30,30-20.
 
In game one, the Bucs had game point at 29-28, but lost three straight rallies to give HSU (9-2) the opening game.
 
Game two also went extra points, with Barry coming back from 29-26 down to tie the game at 29-29 before the Reddies took the win.
 
In game three, Maria Romanowski served seven straight points with the Bucs down 11-7 and Barry went on to take game three 30-18.
 
But in game four, 14 attack errors doomed the Bucs as the Reddies took the game 30-20 and the match 3-1.
 
Camilla Pagnan led all hitters with 24 kills and added 17 digs. Lauren Evans had 20 digs to lead the Bucs, while Romanowski had 37 assists. Edith Musebe led the Reddies with 15 kills and 11 blocks, while Bethany Wright had 24 digs and Rachel Norton directed the offense with 33 assists.
 
The Bucs will take on the host North Alabama Lions at 7:00 pm Central time tonight.
