MELBOURNE, FL. – Juniors Lucy Martinez (14 pts), Christina Thompson (12) and  Princess Bailey’s double-double (11 pts, 10 rebs) catapulted the Buccaneers (14-6, 5-4 SSC) in a 52-48 come from behind win. Down by as many as 15 points, Barry poured it on and stifled host Florida Tech on the road.

Down 11-3, the Bucs bounced back behind three-pointers from Lisa Fors, Kristy Singletary and Christina Thompson. During that span, Barry went on a 9-2 run to make the score 13-12 before taking a short lived 13-14 lead on a Fors layup. With 7:29 left in the half, the Panthers took control and did not let the Buccaneers score another point for the remainder of the half to take a 26-14 lead.

With 2:00 remaining in the contest a Bailey three-pointer put the Buccaneers within one. On the following possession, Thompson nailed another three which gave the Bucs the 46-48 lead. Florida Tech’s Kristen Heminger drew a foul with 1:01 left and converted both shots to tie it up at 48. On a breakaway, senior Amanda Mageean’s layup sealed the victory 48-52.

Tech was led by Lynisha Nelson with a game-high 16 point performance. Heminger netted 12 points.

The Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday, February 6th when they play host to Eckerd in a SSC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
