Women's Golf Finishes 3rd at NSU Spring Classic

Final Round
TAMARAC, Fla. – Isadora Stapff won a one-hole playoff to win the NSU Spring Classic and led Barry to a third-place finish out of an 11-team field. The Buccaneers (+36) fired a two-round score of 612 (310-302) and finished just four strokes behind the tournament winner on the 6,090 yard, par-72 Woodmont Country Club course on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Host Nova Southeastern (+32) finished two strokes ahead of the rest of the field to score a two-round 608 and as the tournament team champion. Florida Southern (+34) fell off their first day lead to finish second, while Barry (+36) finished third. Daytona Beach CC (+46) finished 10 strokes behind Barry in fourth, while Lynn (+61) rounded out the top five teams.
 
After two rounds, Barry’s Stapff and Florida Southern’s Marianne Andersson were tied with two-round scores of 149. However, Stapff won a one-hole playoff by paring the first hole to finish as the individual medalist when Andersson bogeyed.
 
Johanna Soderstrom (+6) carded the tournament’s lowest round of 73 on the second day to finish tied for third out of 61 individuals, while RemiJin Camping (+12) finished T13. Cristina Coll (+13) finished one stroke behind Camping and T17, while Anna Haglind (+16) finished T28 to round out the Buccaneer team score.
 
The Buccaneers will return to action Apr. 14-15 at the Sunshine State Conference tournament hosted by Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla. at Duran Golf Course.
 
 
Round 1
TAMARAC, Fla. – The Barry University women’s golf team finished fifth out of 11 teams after the first round of the NSU Spring Classic on Monday afternoon. The Buccaneers shot an opening round score of 310 on the 6,090 yard, par-72 Woodmont Country Club course.
 
Florida Southern (+16) finished the first day as the tournament team leader with an opening round score of 304, while host Nova Southeastern (+19) finished second. Daytona Beach CC (+20) finished one stroke behind the Sharks in third place, while Lynn (+21) finished fourth. Barry (+22) rounded out the top five teams.
 
Barry’s Isadora Stapff (+3) finished tied for third out of 61 individuals with an opening round score of 75. Johanna Soderstrom (+5) finished two strokes behind her teammate with a score of 77 and T14, while Cristina Coll (+7), Anna Haglind (+7), and RemiJin Camping (+7) all finished with identical 79 scores and T24 to round out the team score.
 
Lynn’s Katy McNicoll (+2) and Florida Tech’s Daniela Icobelli (+2) fired opening round two-over-par scores of 74 to tie after the first day atop the individual leader board.
 
The final round will begin on Tuesday morning with an 8:30 am tee off at Woodmont Country Club.
