Men's Tennis Falls To Top-Ranked Pirates

LAS VEGAS—The second-ranked Barry Buccaneers battled the elements and the top-ranked Armstrong Atlantic Pirates and came out on the short end of an 8-1 decision on Saturday.

The Bucs (11-1) salvaged their only point at number two doubles as Ales Svigelj and Andrew Sharnov topped Matus Mydla and Daniel Regan 8-6.

The Pirates (13-0), who have now beaten the Bucs five straight including the national championship match the last two years, swept the singles. Three matches went to third sets, including a super tie-breaker at the second flight, a regular tie-breaker at number six and another three-set match at number three.

The Bucs face #5 Hawai’i Pacific on Sunday.
