MELBOURNE, Fla.—The Barry University volleyball team remained undefeated in conference play on Friday night with a three-set win over the Florida Tech Panthers.

The Bucs took the first set with relative ease, winning 25-15. Both teams were close through 9-9 before Barry went on a 5-1 run, with the help of kills by Lovisa Johansson, Lanie Muys, and Stefanie Sveiven, to take a 14-10 lead. The Bucs used two more runs, 4-0 and 6-0 to close out the set.

Barry was dominant throughout the second set pushing out to a 12-5 lead in the early going. Julia Teixeira had five kills and the Panthers had six errors in the run. Florida Tech would muster up nine more points but the combination of Ady Alcantara, Muys, and Teixeira, who combined for 16 kills in the set, proved too much for the Panthers in set two as the Bucs won 25-13.

In the third set Florida Tech came out with a new look and hung with the Bucs throughout the majority of the game. Tied late in the set at 19-19, Barry went on a 3-0 run which included two Milena Bukinac aces, to go up 22-19. Tech would score twice more before an Alcantara kill finally put an end to the match with the Bucs winning the third set 25-22.

For the match Teixeira had 17 kills and three aces to lead all players. Alcantara and Sveiven combined for 17 kills. Libby Walter chipped in for the Bucs with 10 digs and 36 assists.

The Bucs return to action on Tuesday, September 28 when they host Palm Beach Atlantic in the Health & Sports Center at 7:00 pm for a Code Red game.
