Barry University announces 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients

MIAMI, FL (Dec. 5, 2019)Barry University has announced the ten alumni who will be honored for their outstanding achievements and contributions to society at the Distinguished Alumni Awards on Feb. 13, 2020, at the Shepard & Ruth K. Broad Center for the Performing Arts at Barry University.

Each year, Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented to select Barry graduates who have made significant contributions to their professions and community, and who consistently demonstrate Barry's Core Commitments of Knowledge and Truth, Inclusive Community, Social Justice, and Collaborative Service through their daily lives. Additionally, two alumni will be honored as Rising Star recipients.

The 2020 recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award are:

Matthew J. Allen, BS ’87: Executive Vice President and COO - The Related Group

Alice Parmelee Burch, BSN '82: Vice Mayor - Village of Miami Shores

Thomas H. Leeder, Esq., JD '03: Attorney - The Leeder Law Firm

Dr. Carmen Blanco Marinelli, BA '76: Adjunct Professor - Nova Southeastern University

Anthony Palmieri, JD '10: Clerk & Comptroller - Palm Beach County

Jennifer Boyd-Pugh, BS '94, MS '01: Vice President for University Administration - Barry University

Elizabeth Ricci, BS '96: Attorney - Rambana & Ricci, PLLC

Paul G. Van Buskirk, MS '02, Ph.D. '06: Chairman of the Board - Metro Forecasting Models

The 2020 recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Rising Star are:

Vanessa Viadero, BA' 11: Director of Marketing - JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa
