Mike Davila Leads Summer League Team To Championship
Mike Davila led the Luray Wranglers to the championship of the Valley League, winning three games in the playoffs, including the championship game.

Davila, who moved ahead of the other pitchers on a mostly NCAA Division I staff to become the ace, started the first games of the opening round of the playoff and also the championship series.

In the opening round against Haymarket, he tossed seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits and striking out eight during the Wranglers’ 19-4 win.

In the championship series against Staunton, he went five innings, giving up four hits and a walk as the Wranglers again punished the opposition pitching for a 20-1 win. He picked up the win in the deciding fifth game, striking out four in four innings and earning the win on Brett Bowen’s 10th inning walk-off homer.

For the season, he went 5-2 with a 2.91 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 49.1 innings. He allowed only six walks and 49 hits for a .246 opponent’s batting average. In the play offs, he was 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 16.0 innings.

Davila will be a senior with the Bucs this fall.
