Scholars and Students at Czech University Welcome Barry Professor, Dr. Anita Závodská

Dr. Anita Závodská, an Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences at Barry University, enjoyed a short but enriching trip to the Czech Republic. She presented students and staff at Palacky University Olomouc with more information about Barry and learned about the school. It was established as a Jesuit public university in 1573 and is the second oldest university in the country. The Augustin friar and founder of modern science of genetics, Gregor Mendel, once performed research at the school.

This visit was the initial contact in potentially creating an exchange program with the school. Dr. Závodská toured the International Studies and Biology departments and the School of Education. She attended a workshop on solid waste management, a lecture titled “The environment – the past, the present and the future,” and met with the Vice Dean for Science and Research.
