The School of Social Work, fully committed to its mission, recognizes the traumatic experiences of all persons that were directly or indirectly affected by the hurricane in the Bahamas. Hundreds and thousands of people are now lending aide helping to re-empower a very devastated area. Among all of those that have been affected, we have children.
It is our belief that as time passes, these children and their need for hope, their need for support, their need for laughter may be forgotten. Our mission is to bring hope to the children beyond all of the tragedy. We want them to know that they are survivors, that they are strong, that they are loved, and to bring smiles of hope to their faces.
With this in mind, we are putting on a massive toy drive and will have those toys delivered to the children who were impacted by this tragedy.
This is what social work is about. Our Social Work Student Association has taken the lead and they will make this happen with our support. Not just from the School of Social Work, but from persons throughout the communities who have not had the opportunity to give the families and to the children of the Bahamas. We are calling out to all of our alumni to donate a new unwrapped toy and take part of this initiative.
We thank you in advance for your contribution.
