Academic and Professional Qualifications
Dr. Todd Tedrow is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice, healthcare leadership, and social work education. He holds a Doctorate in Social Work from George Williams College of Aurora University and an AM from the University of Chicago. He is a certified Senior Instructor with the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), specializing in Trauma-Informed Interventions and Verbal De-escalation. Dr. Tedrow provides certification in Trauma-Informed Interventions for all MSW students entering their Clinical Internships.
He has served in leadership roles including MSW Program Director, Clinical Director, and Regional Healthcare Administrator, bringing a trauma-informed lens to systems development and program design.
Trauma-Informed Clinical Practice
Dr. Tedrow’s clinical work focuses on trauma-informed care, narrative therapy, and group-based interventions. As Consulting Clinical Director at SunServe, he oversees clinical operations and leads Meaningful Connections, a grant-funded initiative supporting LGBTQ+ older adults facing trauma-related social isolation.
His work centers on empowerment, identity integration, and healing through relational connection.
Commitment to Trauma-Informed Education
Dr. Tedrow teaches trauma, group practice, policy, and executive leadership courses at Barry University. His trauma-informed pedagogy emphasizes safety, reflection, and student voice. He incorporates experiential learning and reflective strategies to create inclusive, empowering classrooms. Students consistently praise his ability to foster critical thinking and connection, describing his classes as “transformative” and “safe”.
Community Engagement
Dr. Tedrow is an active community leader and advocate. He has served as Executive and Advisory Board Chair at SunServe and is senior faculty with the Florida Institute for Group Facilitation. He co-coordinates Barry’s Quality Care Conference, an annual interdisciplinary event focused on equity, trauma-informed care, and innovation. He also contributes to the university’s JEDI Coalition, advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in social work education.

Dr. Tedrow’s scholarship explores trauma recovery, LGBTQ+ mental health, and digital engagement in education. Key publications include:
