Biography

I recently saw this quote and it resonated with me so profoundly, because sometimes we need a reminder that our sacrifices are not in vain. I have always been an avid learner and that won’t change, however, my quest to be challenged at a high level drew me to consider starting my master’s degree in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Trust me, this wasn’t an easy decision, but after waiting for about 20 years to pursue this dream I wasn’t going to let anything stop me.

I began to search for a program that would combine my years of experience in both the Education and Human Resources fields. I was delighted and surprised when I found the MS in Human Resource Development (MSHRD) and without hesitation I applied to Barry University and began my 15-month journey. To be honest I was a bit apprehensive about the first term because I didn’t know what to expect but the curriculum design, content, IT support, tutorials, and professors made this experience worthwhile. Don’t get me wrong, you will have to prepare your mind and your family for this undertaking but once you set your schedule and focus the time will fly by swiftly.

This program stretched my thinking and has further prepared me for my chosen field in HRD. Since graduating in 2021 I have been promoted twice and I am currently the Director of Learning & Development in one of the most remarkable destinations in the world, The Atlantis Bahamas.

If you are currently enrolled, completed, and unsure what to do with this new knowledge or considering applying for this program, this is your sign today to decide what you will do next. Think about what drew you to the very place you find yourself, what would you like your legacy to look like and what career path in HRD is your perfect fit. The value of this education with Barry University in the School of Education, Leadership, and Human Development will be one of your most rewarding experiences in life.

Special thank you to Katsiaryna Matusevich PhD who set the foundation and high standard for this program.
