
Biography
Dr. Cristina Herrera is a dedicated researcher at the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness, and Performance at Conestoga College in Ontario, Canada. She earned her master’s degree in Movement Science (Biomechanics) from Barry University, where she gained a strong foundation in movement science, biomechanics, and research-driven education. Her experience at Barry provided her with the critical skills and knowledge that propelled her research career in clinical biomechanics and injury prevention. She later completed her PhD in Kinesiology with a specialization in Clinical Biomechanics at the University of Waterloo.
In addition to her research, Cristina is a skilled Physical Therapist specializing in clinical and shoulder biomechanics, focusing on understanding musculoskeletal injuries and developing prevention strategies. She advises students entering the Exercise Physiology field to get involved early, emphasizing the importance of volunteering, networking, and making connections. Her key advice is to set clear goals and start working towards a dream career from day one.
