Biography

Dr. Janelle Cross is a dedicated researcher in sports biomechanics, with a career focused on optimizing athletic performance and injury prevention. She earned her M.S. in Movement Science from Barry University, where she gained hands-on experience analyzing human movement and working with athletes across all levels. The strong foundation she built at Barry propelled her into advanced research in sports biomechanics, leading to a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University

Dr. Cross has worked extensively with elite athletes, including analyzing over 300 professional baseball players, and served as a Biomechanics Consultant for the Milwaukee Brewers. Before joining the University of North Carolina as Associate Director in the Office of Research, she held multiple academic and leadership roles at the Medical College of Wisconsin, including Director of Sports Medicine Research.

Her time in the Sport and Exercise Science program at Barry University played a pivotal role in shaping her expertise, providing her with the tools to bridge the gap between biomechanics research and real-world sports applications. In her current role, she helps drive biomedical research and innovation, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration and advancing scientific discovery.
