Digital Learning: Best Practices for Higher Ed

Digital learning has long been a component of the higher education landscape, but the closure of most campuses has shown that higher education faculty, staff, and students still face unique challenges.

Quality Matters

Quality Matters is a nationally recognized, faculty-centered non-profit organization that offers a rubric and peer review process, based on best practices, to measure the quality of online and blended courses. QM provides tools, resources, support, and training to empower faculty to design their own quality online courses. QM does not evaluate online teaching, nor the online instructor, but is focused solely on the design of the course.

Check out Barry University’s Quality Matters Resource Portal. Membership is free! Barry University is a member of the Florida Quality Matters Consortium and is committed to the Quality Matters (QM) continuous improvement model for online, hybrid and hyflex courses. QM is the “gold standard” for quality assurance in online and hybrid teaching and learning environments.

OERs range from textbooks to lecture notes, exams, and full courses. The adoption of OER can lead to significant cost savings for students, enhance the adaptability and diversity of course materials, and foster an environment of sharing and innovation in education.
