Dr. Jill Farrell and Her Lasting Legacy

Dr. Jill Beloff Farrell’s tenure at Barry University was distinguished by her commitment to educational excellence, community engagement, and transformative leadership. As Vice Provost for Faculty Success & Graduate Studies and Dean of the Adrian Dominican School of Education, she oversaw the growth of both undergraduate and graduate programs, ushering in innovations in teaching, research, and curricular design. Her work in developing online master’s and doctoral programs, expanding Barry’s presence in the Bahamas, and building strong regional partnerships directly increased the reach and influence of what was once the School of Education. She also served as the Academic Coordinator of the prestigious Stamps Program at Barry University, guiding some of the university’s most accomplished and promising students. In every role, whether teacher, principal, professor, dean, or vice provost, Dr. Farrell embodied her research interests in teacher leadership, collaboration, classroom inquiry, and arts integration, making tangible changes in how educators are prepared and supported. Beyond her academic and administrative achievements, Dr. Farrell has been a deeply engaged leader in the community, earning respect and admiration not only at Barry University but also beyond. She has championed service learning, communitybased research, and civic engagement among students, faculty, and staff, ensuring that Barry's mission is not just academic but deeply social. Under her leadership, the Barry community saw the expansion of programs that support displaced children and families, as well as strong recognition of faculty and students through community engagement awards. Additionally, initiatives were launched that directly connect Barry's educational programs to the broader needs of South Florida and the Bahamas. Dr. Farrell retired after 25 years of dedication to Barry, leaving a lasting legacy of personal mentorship, institutional growth, and an enduring commitment to justice, the arts, and empowerment.
