Barry University's Sport & Exercise Sciences shone at the NYC ACSM event. Samuel Vilmeau and Vinicius Ribeiro claimed second place for their impactful rowing and firefighting research. Samuel’s study on obesity in firefighters and Vinicius' work on BMI and occupational readiness both secured 2nd place. These studies, building on Peter Beitia's earlier work, established crucial partnerships with fire departments, highlighting Barry's impactful research.
The Sport & Exercise Sciences department recently attended a prestigious event hosted by the Greater New York chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine, held at the New York Langone Health Medical Center. Our team had the honor of showcasing four research posters and abstracts, a testament to the successful collaboration between Barry University, the University of Louisville, and the New York Institute of Technology.
We are thrilled to announce that Samuel Vilmeau and Vinicius Ribeiro were awarded second-place honors for their exceptional research. Sam's study provided valuable insights into the assessment of mental toughness in competitive rowing, while Vini's research made significant contributions to understanding the impact of body composition on occupational readiness in firefighting. Their achievements reflect the high caliber of work and dedication inherent in our students and faculty. Their work will soon be published in International Journal of Exercise Science.
