“Barry University is poised to elevate our world-class healthcare programs, and we are eager to expand our partnerships with the local hospital systems to meet the needs of our community. Dr. Roldan’s extensive experience in healthcare, education, business, and community engagement are invaluable skills as we advance the mission of the College of Health and Wellness and build upon our dynamic approach to teaching and learning,” said Barry University President Mike Allen, PhD.
Dr. Roldan’s Cuban roots, high-profile leadership roles, healthcare expertise, and international educational journey, paired with her bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, have made her a sought-after spokesperson on health policy, healthcare management, and obesity, providing vital insights across various media platforms. A lifelong learner, Dr. Roldan graduated with high honors from Ross School of Medicine and completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and fellowship in pediatric pathology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. She holds a Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee Haslam School of Business, both with high honors, and has attended prestigious executive programs at Harvard, Thunderbird, and the Wharton School of Business, where she is an alumnus and serves on their Executive Education Advisory Board.
“I am honored to join Barry University’s College of Health & Wellness as Executive Dean,” said Dr. Roldan. “In our current complex healthcare environment, it is our duty to develop future healthcare leaders that can work as part of interdisciplinary teams to elevate healthcare delivery outcomes in populations. I look forward to working collaboratively with faculty, students, and the community to enhance health education and promote wellness initiatives that make a meaningful impact on our diverse populations.”
Coinciding with her tenure at FIU, Dr. Roldan served as principal investigator in numerous clinical studies focused on innovative medical treatments for obesity and infectious diseases. She has authored scientific papers and contributed chapters to medical textbooks, receiving numerous national, state, and local accolades in medicine, business, and academics. Notably, her latest chapter, “Cuban American Women Making History,” published in November 2023, chronicles her journey as a female healthcare leader.
