Elizabeth Ricci

TEDx at Barry University

After spending a semester in Mexico City and working at the US Embassy’s US Trade Center, Elizabeth Ricci graduated from Barry University in 1996 with a degree in International Business.  Immediately upon graduation, she became a Small Business Development Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala where she led a women’s communal bank and taught Junior Achievement.  Upon her return to the States, she earned her Juris Doctorate.  She has practiced immigration law for over twenty years.  She currently serves on the Barry University Alumni Board of Directors, as President of the Holocaust Education Resource Council, on Tallahassee Hispanic Theatre Board of Directors, in several capacities for the American Immigration Lawyers Association, on her church’s “Do Justice” Refugee Committee, and on the Selective Service Board as a Presidential appointee.  She previously served on the Cultural Resources Commission (now known as Council on Culture and Arts) and on Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice’s Pro Bono Committee.  She was named a Barry Distinguished Alumna in 2020.  Elizabeth appeared in an off-Broadway production with Jane Fonda and Rosie Perez, acted in “Our Town” at the Monticello Opera House and in “The Visitor” at Theatre Tallahassee.  She was named a 2022 Leading Lady by Young Actors Theatre for actualizing big dreams for her community.  She frequently produces murder mystery parties to benefit non-profit organizations.  Elizabeth has written several articles about veterans’ legal issues and has an entry in the Encyclopedia of the Supreme Court.  She has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, the BBC, and been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, among other major media.
