Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) has been used as a graduate school admission test for more than 70 years in university programs throughout the United States. The MAT is a high-level mental ability test that evaluates your ability to solve analytical problems stated in the form of analogies.
The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services administers the MAT twice per month on Barry University’s main campus in Miami. Click the link above to download the latest MAT testing dates.
Please note: The test schedule is subject to change. Call the Counseling Center at 305.899.3950 to confirm that your preferred date is available.
Fee and Payment
The test fee is $90, payable by only cash or money order. The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services must receive payment at least one week prior to the test date in order to reserve your seat. The fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable. No checks or credit cards will be accepted.
Please make money orders payable to Barry University. Include your name, address, and phone number on the money order. You will be given a receipt.
Reserving Your Seat
Once you select a test date, you may reserve your seat by submitting a completed registration form with payment at least one week prior to your preferred test date. The test may be cancelled if no one else signs up for the same date.
You can reserve your seat in person at the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (R. Kirk Landon Student Union, Room 105). You can also complete the registration form and mail it with a money order to:
Counseling and Psychological Services
R. Kirk Landon Student Union

Please note: Because there are only 20 seats available for each test date, you cannot reserve a seat without payment or reschedule your test date after making a reservation. If you do not take the test on the date that you selected, you will not receive a refund. You will have to re-apply and pay again. This is strictly enforced. Please make sure that you will be able to take the test on the date that you select.
When reserving your seat, you must inform the Counseling Center if you have previously taken the MAT.
Individuals with Disabilities
If you have a disability requiring special accommodations, you must notify the Counseling Center at least 14 days prior to the test date. You will be required to provide documentation of the disability.
On Testing Day
Please report to the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services in Landon Student Union, Room 105. You will be escorted to the testing location.
What to Bring to the Test
- Two identification cards, including one picture ID (such as a driver’s license)
- Addresses of schools where you want the results sent
Please note: This test is computer based. No books or papers are permitted in the testing room.
Results will be sent to you and the schools you request approximately 20 days after the test date. The Counseling Center does not receive your results. Test scores are valid for five years from the test date.
