- BIO 110 General Biology I with lab (4 credits)
- BIO 111 General Biology II with lab (4 credits)
- Either: BIO 322 Botany with lab -or- BIO 216 Zoology with lab (4 credits)
- BIO 305 Introduction to Oceanography (3 credits)
- BIO 314 Biology of Fishes with lab (4 credits)
- BIO 312 Ecology with lab (4 credits)
- BIO 310 Marine Biology with lab (4 credits)
- BIO 339 Animal Behavior (3 credits)
- Marine Biology Capstone: BIO 474 Marine Seminar (3 credits)

Recommended Biology courses and/or additional Biology electives not listed, can be used to complete the 40 credits for the major.
Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 120 credits with a cumulative average of 2.00 (C). Of the total, a minimum of 45 credits must be in courses numbered above 299. The last 30 credits and the majority of the major coursework must be completed at Barry University.
Students are required to take the Major Field Assessment Test (MFAT) in Biology.
