Brand Research Center

Message from the Director

I am very pleased to announce that Barry University's School of Podiatric Medicine has established the Paul & Margaret Brand Research Center at Barry University. This is the first step to bring Barry University forward as a world-class research institution.

I worked with Dr. Paul Brand on my first National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant and he has been an inspiration for me and for many other dedicated physicians around the world who are working to reduce diabetic amputations. His wife, Dr. Margaret Brand, worked in the field of ocular care for leprosy patients, from India to Louisiana.

I want to express my gratitude to Sister Linda Bevilacqua, former president of Barry University, and to the University administration for enabling us to embark on this endeavor. I also want you, our podiatric medical students, to know that we are working to provide you with the very best learning opportunities in both didactic and clinical training. When you go out into the world to work as a podiatric physician, you will be among the best prepared podiatric physicians in the country, ready to care for your patients with passion, compassion, and knowledge.

The Paul & Margaret Brand Research Center at Barry University provides us a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our future patients. I look forward to working with all of you.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Jensen, DPM, FACFAS
Director of the Paul and Margaret Brand Research Center
