November 5 - November 12 Founders' Week 2022 Founders’ Week honors the spirit of our founders, the Adrian Dominican sisters and celebrates Barry University traditions. Through service, scholarly, and joyful events, we highlight the University’s faithfulness to our motto – Learn, Reflect, Serve and build connections that unite students, faculty, staff and alumni for generations to come.

Founders’ Day of Service

Saturday, November 5 | 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

With lunch to follow, Meet in the Landon Events Room  

Join students, faculty, staff, and alumni to honor the university’s collaborative service tradition by taking part in a day of service that addresses homelessness in South Florida.  Participants will serve in shelters and other community sites that support unhoused individuals and families in our community.

The traditional Founders' Week Mass honors the vision and legacy of our Founders, the Adrian Dominican Sisters for whom Barry is a sponsored institution.

50,000 Meals Food Packing Event 

Monday, November 7 | 2:00-6:00 pm  | Gymnasium  

Join Campus Ministry, Institute for Immigration Studies, and Intercollegiate Athletics with our community partner, Cross Catholic Outreach for this on-campus food packing event to prepare 50,000 meals. Meals will be delivered to those in our local and global communities experiencing food insecurity. Drop in for an hour or stay for the entire time to make a difference in someone’s life!

Dialogue with our keynote speaker, Dr. Linh Hoang, OFM, from Siena College, and learn about the powerful role of food in shaping spirituality, identity and solidarity in immigrant communities. All are welcome!

Core Commitments Luncheon: School of Podiatric Medicine

Wednesday, November 9 | 12:00-1:30 pm | Andreas 111

The Barry University School Podiatric Medicine was established in 1985 with only 18 students, one hospital affiliation, and no clinical program.  Since then, the School has graduated over 1,200 podiatric physicians that have made their mark in the medical community. Join us as we celebrate the scholarly achievements of our amazing faculty and students and of our humanitarian efforts in the local and global communities.

Distinguished Alumni Awards

Since 2007, Barry University has paid tribute to outstanding graduates via the Distinguished Alumni Awards, the highest and most prestigious honor that Barry bestows upon its graduates.  

Join us as we celebrate and honor a select group of Barry alumni who have made significant contributions to their professions and/or community, and who consistently demonstrate Barry’s Core Commitments of Knowledge and Truth; Inclusive Community, Social Justice, and Collaborative Service through their daily lives. The Magic Flute by Mozart

Saturday, November 12 | 7:00pm | Cor Jesu Chapel 

The Department of Fine Arts closes Founders’ Week with Mozart’s fanciful opera, The Magic Flute. The Magic Flute is a combination of “earthly comedy and noble mysticism”, come hear the Queen of the Night, freaky monsters,  and birds sing! Featuring Barry Music Majors and Directed by Dr. Beverly Coulter.
