Study Room Policy

Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library

Study Room Policy

To better serve the needs of our Barry University patrons, study rooms are reserved through our online reservation system. Study rooms are checked out on a first come, first served basis.

How to Reserve Study Rooms

  • Patrons may reserve study rooms in advance through our online booking system: https://barryuniversity.libcal.com/
  • The study room checkout period is limited to four hours. If another group or user is not waiting to use the room at the end of two hours, the original patron or group may re-checkout the room for another period.
  • Depending upon room availability, patrons can place a maximum of three reservations per day.
  • Patrons with reservations must arrive no later than 20 minutes after the start of the reserved time. After 20 minutes, the reservation is forfeited and becomes available for online reservation.
  • If other patrons are waiting for a study room, the patron or group who leaves a room unoccupied past the due time will lose the use of the room.
  • Confirmed reservations can be cancelled through the study room reservation confirmation email.
  • In the event a study room becomes unavailable due to damage or other issues that need repair, Monsignor William Memorial Library reserves the right to cancel all future reservations for that room until the study room becomes available for occupancy.

General Study Room Use

  • To avoid disturbing other patrons, patrons in study rooms are requested to maintain a quiet atmosphere within the study rooms. Conversations should be at a low volume.
  • Patrons are not allowed to bring food into the study rooms.
  • All windows must remain uncovered.
  • Furniture is not to be moved in or out of a study room except by authorized staff.
  • Upon entering a room, the patron or group should inspect the room and report any prior damage - graffiti, etc. to the Circulation Desk staff.
  • Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items left in study rooms. Valuable items left in the study rooms are turned over to Public Safety. This includes - laptops, pocketbooks, backpacks, wallets, car keys, etc.
