Dr. Mitch Rosenwald, Director of Doctoral Studies at Barry University School of Social Work was elected to the Oakland Park City Commission in 2020. On November 8, 2023, Dr. Rosenwald, took the Oath of Office of Mayor of Oakland Park during a swearing-in ceremony held at City Hall. Dr. Rosenwald’s achievements celebrates the mission of social workers as agents of change and service for their local, national, and global communities.
Dr. Rosenwald brings to his position the knowledge, skills, integrity and dedication of a social worker, researcher, educator, and advocate. His achievement demonstrates the multi-faceted opportunities opened to individuals who earn a social work degree for it is indeed “compassion in action”! Mentoring people to serve their communities through political office is an important vision and goal in Dr. Rosenwald’s platform.
