At Barry University the purpose of the Office of Student Accounts and the Office of Financial Aid is to act in partnership with the students and their families to provide the necessary guidance in financial planning related to enrollment. Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid at (305) 899-3673; or the Student Services Center at (305) 899-3030, for information and assistance.
An enrollment deposit is required of all new traditional undergraduate students. For more information, contact the Office of Admissions at 305-899-3100.
In consideration of acceptance for enrollment at Barry University, the student and guarantor/s guarantee the payment of all fees for tuition, room, board and all other financial obligations incurred while in attendance at the University.
Registration for subsequent terms and participation in housing are prohibited until all financial obligations have been met.
If financial obligations are not satisfied students may be administratively withdrawn. Students may be reinstated upon settlement of an account and the University will make every effort to honor the student’s original course selection and housing priority but cannot guarantee those selections.
OTHER COSTS
Health Insurance
To protect our student’s health and wellbeing, Barry University strongly recommends that all students remain properly insured with health insurance that provide them full health care benefits in the location they are taking classes or participating clinical rotations. Barry University is pleased to be able to continue to offer a group health insurance plan to all undergraduate students taking 9 or more credit hours in Fall and Spring and 6 credit hours in Summer, and Graduate students taking 4 or more credit hours each semester. This coverage provides national coverage throughout the United States.
Beginning in the Fall Semester 2023, commuting students will no longer be billed for student insurance, unless they are enrolled in a program that requires insurance. Commuters will have the ability to enroll in the student plan during the open enrollment period, by voluntarily enrolling.
All students residing in campus housing will be automatically billed for the student health plan. In addition, all undergraduate nursing students and graduate students enrolled in the Podiatric, Physician Assistant, Anesthesia, Law, Graduate Social Work, Graduate OT and students participating in intercollegiate athletics, will be billed automatically at the beginning of each semester.
All students billed for the student insurance plan are responsible for providing proof of health insurance through a hard waiver process during the waiver period. If your insurance has been determined to meet the waiver requirements by an independent audit through the waiver system, students will receive an approval and their student account will be adjusted. Students failing to do a waiver during the open waiver period, will be responsible for the cost of the student insurance plan on their student account.
Students who applied for resident housing or moved off campus during the semester will still be responsible to complete the waiver if billed. Students who move off campus during the semester will not be credited for student insurance after the waiver period.
It is the student’s responsibility to read their Barry assigned emails and check their student accounts. Failure to read emails will not be a reason to reverse the billing for the student health insurance after the waiver period.
