About Our Practice

Barry University Foot and Ankle Institute is a graduate teaching clinic established in 1988 and it provides service to the community through its treatment of patients from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds. We believe in an interactive patient-doctor relationship. Patients deserve a careful explanation of their podiatric problem and its treatment. Licensed practicing podiatrists supervise the Podiatry students who carry out podiatric assessment.

In addition to serving Podiatry students, the Institutes also continue its commitment to serving minority and underserved communities. Of the more than 450,000 medically underserved residents in greater Miami, more than 250,000 patients have been cared for by our faculty and students. Our five Foot and Ankle Institutes are unique to the podiatric colleges and provide nearly $ 1-million a year in charitable care.

The Institutes' consultation rooms and surgical suite support teaching and research through service to more than 11,000 registered patients. In addition, to providing an excellent facility for research and teaching, the Barry University Foot and Ankle Institutes provide a comprehensive range of podiatry services including but not limited to:

  • Foot and lower limb assessment
  • Treatment of lesions of the skin and nails, including corns, callus, and nail problems
  • Treatment of infections (e.g. plantar warts)
  • Nail surgery
