4:00 – 5:00 PM (EST): BarryU Preview Week Kick-Off
If you want to learn more about Barry University, there is no better time than getting started today! This kick-off session is full of essential information for future Buccaneers like you. Attend it and get suggestions on how to make the best out of your BarryU Preview Week experience.
5:00 – 5:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) History and Political Science
The Department of History and Political Science offers you a solid foundation in preparing you for fulfilling careers in the fields of law, international studies, history, government, politics, business, media, and teaching.
5:00 – 5:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) Psychology
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BS) at Barry University prepares you for many different career paths. Learn about our three specializations: Forensic Psychology Specialization, Industrial/Organizational Psychology Specialization, Child and Adolescent Development.
5:30 – 6:00 PM (EST): (concurrent) Education
Make a difference in the future of education for children in PK-12th grade. During this session, you will learn about becoming a highly effective early childhood, elementary, or special education teacher.
6:00 – 6:30 PM (EST): Academic Success and Advising
C.A.S.A – the Center for Academic Success and Advising will support your success by delivering an extensive array of customized services, including first-year advising, academic coaching, and tutoring. Bring your questions to this session and you will learn about the academic support services designed to meet your specific needs.
4:00 – 4:30 PM (EST): General Studies and Undecided
Undecided about a major? That’s not unusual. Maybe you are interested in a few areas or careers. You may know what career you want to pursue, but don’t know what area of study or coursework would best prepare you. This is the perfect session for you.
4:30 – 5:00 PM (EST): Biology
Designed to give you a strong background in science, Barry University's undergraduate biology program prepares you for a number of career goals. Some of the areas you might consider after graduation include medical school, dental school, veterinary school, biomedical research, or wildlife biology. During this session, explore the many options this degree can afford you.
5:00 – 5:30 PM (EST): Math and Computer Science
Our department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science (CS), and Computer Information Sciences (CIS) (with two specialization options in Cybersecurity and Multimedia). During this session, you will learn how we will prepare you to enter the workforce in the computer science, information technology, and actuarial or analytics fields, to contribute to the rapidly changing cyber-world.
5:30 – 6:00 PM (EST): Career Exploration
Take action from the very first year of college to discover who you are and what you would like to do with your life. The Career Development Center helps you explore different majors and career options that can provide you with a satisfying work life.
6:00 - 6:30 PM (EST): Favorite Classes at BarryU
What are our students’ favorite classes? What courses our Buccaneers loved the most? What are the stand out options that you should make a point to take? Get tips and the inside scoop.
6:30 – 7:00 PM (EST): Financial Aid
You and your family are probably thinking a lot about how you’ll pay for college. We at Barry University want to help you navigate this process. Sign up for this session and our financial aid counselors will provide you with an overview of what is the FAFSA, explain our generous Barry-specific scholarships and grants, and offer you tips on how to minimize student loan debt.
4:00 – 4:30 PM (EST): Honors Program
Barry University's Honors Program challenges, enriches, and prepares especially motivated students to pursue their fullest potential. During this session, you’ll learn what it takes to join this rewarding program, which includes up to $5,000 in scholarship money per year.
4:30 – 5:00 PM (EST): (concurrent) Engaged STEM Scholars Program
Barry University Engaged STEM Scholars connects motivated students with opportunities to succeed in STEM majors, including Biology, Chemistry (including Biochemistry specialization), Math, Computer Science, and Computer Information Science. The four-year academic scholarship program awards up to $10,000 per year. Students graduating high school in 2021 are eligible to apply.

4:30 – 5:00 PM (EST): (concurrent) Sociology and Criminology
Choosing to major in sociology or criminology at Barry University has many advantages. In addition to our excellent curriculum and dedicated faculty, our specialized programs provide students with opportunities to gain practical experience through research projects or internships. Learn about them in this session.
5:00 – 5:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) Fine Arts: Performing Arts
Are you interested in music (instrumental performance, vocal performance, or music education)? Maybe you are interested in theatre (acting, technical theater, or dance). If so, this session with the Department of Fine Arts is perfect for you.
5:00 – 5:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) Sport and Exercise Sciences
In the Bachelor of Science program in Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences (SESA), you will be exposed to a foundation in the movement sciences, preparing you for many options within the fields of sport, exercise, fitness and wellness fields. During this session, we will share about the multiple electives that will provide you with a broad, high-quality academic experience.
5:30 – 6:00 PM (EST): Student Leadership Programs
Learn, Reflect, and Serve! We will prepare you to become a leader, an advocate for social change, and an active citizen in your community. Join the Office of Mission Engagement for this session and learn about opportunities in leadership education, mentoring, conferences, speakers, and retreats offered each semester to foster ethical decision-making, and inspire you to get involved in organizations and causes you are passionate about.
6:00 – 6:30 PM (EST): eSports
Through the National Association of Collegiate eSports (NACE), our team takes on 150 other competitors nationally. Attend this session to find out how Barry has incorporated eSports into our existing Computer Information Science programs to maximize your gaming experience and prepare you for careers in technologies, video game design and development, virtual reality, and computer animation.
6:30 – 7:00 PM (EST): Living on Campus
Your residential experience will provide you with many new freedoms and personal choices, an experience in which you will meet students from all over the world, and from extremely diverse backgrounds. This will help you in developing lifelong friendships, and connections that span the globe. During this session, the Office of Housing and Residence Life will answer all your questions about living on campus.
4:00 – 4:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) Chemistry and Physics
We offer foundational and advanced courses in Chemistry and Physics. Are you interested in pursuing a pre-professional program (such as pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-pharmacy or pre-veterinary)? Are you already preparing to attend graduate school? During this session, we will explain how a degree from our department will set you on the right path.
4:00 – 4:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) Theology and Philosophy
Are you interested in examining your relationship with God and transcendent reality, with culture and social constructs, and with the world and its inhabitants, both human and non-human? This is the session for you.
4:30 – 5:00 PM (EST): (concurrent) Business
The Andreas School of Business offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), which allows you to choose from five different majors including Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management, or Marketing. In addition, a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. By selecting this session, you can get details on the one that interest you.
4:30 – 5:00 PM (EST): (concurrent) Social Work
The Ellen Whiteside McDonnell School of Social Work’s Bachelor of Social Work Program is SACS-accredited, trauma-informed, and focused on empowering the next generation of professional clinicians and leaders. If you are interested in becoming a voice of change in today’s society and are considering our BSW program, bring your questions to this session.
5:00 – 5:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) Fine Arts: Visual Arts
Are you interested in graphic design, studio art, or art history? Maybe you already have a preference and just need specifics on the coursework. Perhaps you want to learn about your options before having to choose a specific academic degree path to follow. This session with the Department of Fine Arts is the perfect one for you.
5:00 – 5:30 PM (EST): (concurrent) Nursing
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a high quality program that will prepare you to be a responsible and a respected nursing professional. During this session, learn about the different Bachelor of Science program options.
5:30 – 6:00 PM (EST): (concurrent) Communication
Our programs reflect the breadth of the communication discipline with majors in Communication & Media Studies, Public Relations, and Television and Digital Media. We offer a great combination of state-of-the-art facilities, an international and professionally active faculty, and up-to-date programs, as well as a supportive environment where we are all focused on helping you fulfill your goals. Welcome to the session of the Department of Communication!
5:30 – 6:00 PM (EST): (concurrent) English and Foreign Languages
Join us to learn about the three options for the major: general English studies, Professional Writing, and Literature. You may also be interested in learning French or Spanish, as well as expanding your knowledge of foreign cultures. Are you considering a minor in Spanish or French, a minor in Translation and Interpretation, or a major in Spanish? Attend this session and get all your questions answered.
6:00 – 6:30 PM (EST): Experience Campus Life
Your Barry education is only part of being successful; there's more to the equation. Participate in clubs, organizations, and all kinds of opportunities for volunteering in the community.
