Program Overview Biology Pre-Professional - BS.BIOP (Pre-Medical)
The Bachelor of Science in Biology Pre-Professional degree program allows you the flexibility to apply to graduate programs in the professional field of your choice.
Biology advisors will guide you to take courses that will prepare you to apply for medical school following graduation.
Applicable Core Areas
The BS.BIOP degree requires a minimum of 40 required credits and at least one course from each of the following core areas: Growth/Development, Cellular/Molecular Biology, Physiological/Biochemical Principles, Environmental Biology, and Biological Theory.
Medical School Pathway
Barry graduates have gone on to study at medical schools such as Weill Cornell Medical College, University of Massachusetts Medical School, Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, and Northwestern University.
Specific admissions requirements for medical schools vary. Faculty and advisors will work with you to ensure you meet the requirements for the medical school of your choice.
In addition to required courses, Barry’s Pre-Professional program offers a variety of elective courses, including Human Nutrition, Neurobiology, Parasitology, Biochemistry, Epidemiology, Histology, Embryology and Immunology.
