The Honors Program at Barry is designed to challenge, enrich, and prepare especially motivated students to pursue their fullest potential. By participating in a rigorous curriculum rounded out by an array of edifying and interactive events, students explore crucial issues that we face in our daily lives. Students are given the space for discussion and debate and the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields. The Office of Financial Aid can assist with determining eligibility for the Honors Program.

The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is located in the center of the beautiful Miami Shores campus of Barry University. The Library is named in loving memory of Monsignor William Barry, one of the founders of Barry University and an inspirational figure in the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Miami. The extensive Library research collections include more than 950,000 physical items, over 40,000 print and on-line journal subscriptions, and several thousand on-line books and streaming video resources.

At Barry University, you will experience a small community atmosphere where you can always rely on our administrators and faculty for advice, encouragement and personal attention. We take great pride in giving individual attention from the very beginning. Continuing Education (CE) offers a variety of courses and non-credit programs designed to respond to the diverse educational interests and lifelong learning needs of individuals of all ages. Distance Education

We are committed to providing programs and services that are guided by Barry University's rich educational mission and intended to enhance your Barry experience. Through partnerships with others in the university community, we aim to create experiences that will help transform you into leaders for a just and humane world.

We are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference with 12 varsity teams, including men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. So far, we've won 24 NCAA championships, had 338 All-Americans, 413 Scholar All-Americans, and nine NCAA "Women of the Year" finalists, the most of any Division II school. Not bad at all, but we're going for more.

Barry University offers scholarships that you can apply for every year. The scholarships are funded through contributions from private donors, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, campus organizations, and corporations.

Barry University Scholarship System is an easy-to-use and mobile-friendly process that makes finding and applying for scholarships online easier. You’ll be able to: 

  • Answer as many questions as you like and be matched with your eligible external scholarship opportunities 
  • Apply to multiple scholarship opportunities through a personalized online portal 
  • See scholarship metrics to determine your chances and the effort required to apply 
  • Receive automated reminders for outstanding tasks and next steps

  • Students who are enrolled at Barry University and have completed at least one semester. 

  • Barry employees, their relatives who currently receive 100% tuition assistance or tuition waivers are not eligible for Barry University scholarships, and students that are applying for the MBA online program.

  • The scholarship system opens twice a year - spring semester (January 15, 2024 – March 4, 2024) and fall semester (September 2, 2024 - October 7, 2024) - for institutional scholarships. External scholarships are open year-round. The vast majority of the institutional scholarships are awarded in the spring for disbursement in the fall. Deadline dates for individual scholarship applications may vary, so please refer to the Barry University Scholarship System for deadlines. You will continue to be notified through your myBarry email account, through the scholarship system, and through on-campus advertisements to complete the scholarship application.

  • Make sure to answer all questions completely and complete all essays thoughtfully

  • If a thank you note is requested, please be sure to submit in a timely manner as funds are not disbursed until these are received
  • Contact faculty for needed recommendations as early as possible

Barry University Scholarship Policies 

  • Enrollment Policy: To be eligible for a Barry University scholarship, you must be enrolled at the university.
  • Disbursement Policy: Scholarships are disbursed in the fall and spring semester following the selection of recipients and are directly credited to the recipients' Barry student accounts. Most annual awards up to $1,000 are credited for the full amount in the fall semester. Awards of $1,000 or more are divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. If a student does not attend a portion of the school year, undisbursed funds are returned to the scholarship fund for a future award.
  • Financial Aid: The Financial Aid Office offers financial aid packages in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. Financial aid offers may not exceed a student’s estimated cost of attendance. Students who are recipients of other need based aid may not be eligible for the full amount of a scholarship that they receive. Contact your financial aid counselor if you have questions about how a scholarship might impact your financial aid package.
  • Cancellation Policy: Barry University reserves the right to revoke a scholarship if the recipient is found to not meet the published criteria under which the recipient was initially selected.
