The Summer Science Research Program (SSRP) is directed by Dr. Teresa Petrino-Lin, associate professor of biology at Barry University, and Dr. Flona Redway, instructor at Barry and program director for Barry’s MBRS RISE program.
Dr. Teresa Petrino-Lin received her Ph.D. from the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in Argentina. She received additional training as a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University, where she worked in the field of reproductive endocrinology and as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Florida studying fish reproduction. Dr. Petrino-Lin joined Barry University in 1993 as a research associate. During her time at Barry, she has been committed to training undergraduates in research as an associate professor of biology teaching courses such as Biological Foundations, Anatomy and Physiology and Research Ethics. She continues to work with undergraduates in the area of reproductive biology.
Dr. Flona Redway, Biology instructor at Barry University and program director for Barry’s MBRS RISE program, received her Ph.D. from Cambridge University in England. Dr. Redway joined Barry in 1992 and has dedicated most of her time and efforts to preparing undergraduates, mainly underrepresented students, for careers in biomedical science research. She has been awarded funding for research training grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the past 21 consecutive years.
