Welcome to the Department of English and Foreign Languages. We’d like to invite you to consider a major or minor in English studies. Our program of study includes video composition and web design, film studies and fiction writing, journalism and business writing - in addition to diverse offerings in British, American, and world literatures.

Whatever the topic, English courses foster critical thinking and effective communication, abilities that will serve you well in your personal and professional life.

A major or minor in English can provide you with strong credentials as well as intellectual rewards. We offer 3 options for the major: general English studies, Professional Writing, and Literature. You may also be interested in learning French or Spanish, as well as expanding your knowledge of foreign cultures. We invite you to consider a minor in Spanish or French, a minor in Translation and Interpretation, or a major in Spanish.

We offer engaged faculty, opportunities for students to publish their writing and professionalize themselves, and an array of student social organizations.
