The Department of Education and Leadership promotes academic excellence as it prepares caring, ethical, and highly skilled professional educators to teach and work in a wide range of culturally diverse learning environments. Sensitive and responsive to the diverse society in which they live and work, Department of Education faculty strive to model lifelong learning and to foster critical and creative thinking in professional interactions with each other, students, and the wider community.

Committed to continuous improvement through collaborative processes we offer a comprehensive range of professional courses and programs to prepare leaders for the 21st century, continuously update programs to reflect changing societal needs, and offer our students the tools and experiences that will help them confidently enter their professional working environments.

Degree Programs

  • Education (BS)

    Our bachelor's degree program emphasizes the content areas that prepare students to be classroom-ready by the time they graduate.

  • Curriculum and Instruction (EdS)

    To broaden your curriculum expertise and instructional skills, we have developed courses that act as a learning laboratory where you are able to bring curriculum issues and classroom experiences to your coursework. You will work with experienced faculty to create instructional methods and strategies aimed at solving problems commonly found in teaching environments.

  • Curriculum and Instruction (MS)

  • Curriculum and Instruction (PhD)

    The Curriculum and Instruction program faculty is strongly committed to the integration of theory, research, policy, and practice throughout the program. You are exposed to multiple educational perspectives on issues of design and policy, allowing you to assume a leadership role in curriculum development, design, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Educational Leadership (MS/EdS)

    The Educational Leadership program from Barry University is designed for educators who want to pursue leadership opportunities both in state and out of state in private, charter, or parochial schools.

  • Organizational Leadership, EdD

    This practitioner-doctorate program prepares future and present leaders to develop essential knowledge and skills in solving complex problems of practice to improve the performance of organizations in both educational and non-educational settings.
