About the Program Enhance Expertise in Kinesiology and Human Performance with Our MS
Kinesiology and Human Performance involves the scientific study of acute physiological, biomechanical, and nutritional responses and chronic adaptations to a wide range of exercise conditions. Exercise scientists like exercise physiologists, biomechanists, nutritionists use exercise as a non-invasive means to investigate changes in physiologic systems, organs, tissues, cells, organelles and molecules. In addition, exercise scientists with a clinical interest study the effect of exercise on pathology and the mechanisms by which exercise can reduce or reverse disease progression. Moreover, exercise scientists discover health and fitness benefits from different doses and types of physical activity, exercise and diet.
Kinesiology and Human Performance degree provides a strong academic foundation for individuals interested in careers in science, medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes and weight management, lifestyle behavior change, sports physiology, coaching and other health- and fitness-related professions.
The Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and Human Performance provides the flexibility to customize your own program of advanced study in order to enhance your professional preparation and expertise in your current field or prepare for future doctoral studies. This degree requires a total of 36 credits of coursework. The first 12 credits are the Human Performance and Wellness core courses. For the remaining 24 credits, you can choose the specific courses from each specialization that meet your interests and career goals. To customize your program, up to six credits can be chosen from any other graduate level courses offered at Barry.
There is also the option for a Kinesiology and Human Performance degree with a specialization in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology.
You will select a graduate committee of faculty from various areas of specialization. This team will work with you to ensure that your plan of study is right for you and meets all graduation requirements.
