Juris Doctor (JD) Financial Aid Application Process

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application may be completed online at Federal Student Aid - FAFSA Application. Barry University School of Law's Title IV Federal school code (E00993) should be indicated in section six of the FAFSA.

Step-by-step information about the financial aid application process is available to admitted students. Our process is streamlined with minimal requirements.

Students are encouraged to talk with a staff member from the Office of Student Financial Services in order to determine the best financing options for their circumstances. The priority deadline for completing the FAFSA is April 15th prior to the Fall term.

All credit balances generated by financial aid will be automatically issued and available for pick up (with photo ID) in the Office of Student Financial Services. To simplify the disbursement of funds, direct deposit is available and recommended. Students wishing to participate in direct deposit, should visit Self-Service: https://studentportal.barry.edu/.

Refunds are disbursed within 14 calendar days from when the credit balance has been created or 14 calendar days from the start of the term, whichever is later.

Note:

  • Receiving a refund check or direct deposit doesn’t automatically mean that the account has been cleared and paid in full. Please note that authorization needs to be given in order for excess financial aid funds to be applied to ALL charges on the student account including any prior year charges up to $200. The Federal Student Aid Authorization form can be found on Self-Service: https://studentportal.barry.edu/.
  • If a credit card payment was made to the account within 90 calendar days of the refund date, funds will be issued to the credit card first. Any additional credit that remains will then be issued to the student in the form of a check or direct deposit (if selected).
