Meet the Orientation Leaders, or what we like to call the "O-Team". Orientation Leaders are undergraduate student leaders selected and trained to assist in New Student Orientation. They act as guides, small group leaders, mentors, and resources for
new incoming students and parents. They also help guide students and parents through many activities and sessions that take place during orientation. They will provide answers to any questions regarding the transition to Barry University.
First-Year Experience programs introduce students to the rich academic, cultural, co-curricular, and social life of the University through a series of programs and services offered by various departments.
Congratulations! We are so excited to welcome you to the BarryU Community. The first step is to submit your enrollment deposit and register for classes. Next you will need to RSVP for New Student Orientation and begin working on the New Student Checklist.
We also recommend that you follow New Student Programs on Instagram. We will be communicating a lot of helpful (and fun) updates throughout your first year.
New Student Orientation takes place over two days on August 24 & 25, 2023. Resident students will move-in to their residence hall on August 23rd. Members of the Barry University administration and student body will officially welcome you as you begin to explore our freshmen traditions and create fun memories with your fellow students.
Beginning in March, new students meet virtually with an academic advisor to plan their course schedule for the fall semester. Students must also complete any pending financial aid documents, upload immunization records, set up payment plans, and submit a photo for their student ID as outlined in the New Student Checklist.
New Student Orientation is mandatory for all new students with less than 30 credit hours. Through a variety of interactive sessions and university traditions, students will receive important information that will prepare them for a smooth transition to their first semester.
Make sure to register on your myBarry dashboard and mark your calendar!
There are various tasks that new students must complete prior to arriving on campus for New Student Orientation. The New Student Checklist includes all of the required items as well as several additional tasks to help students make the transition to college life.
Class registration for the summer and fall semesters begins on March 15th. New students need to make an appointment with their academic advisor to select their classes. It is best to register for classes prior to August Orientation. In order to set up your class schedule, you must have made your enrollment deposit. Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor by logging onto your myBarry dashboard.
New Student Orientation is free for all new incoming undergraduate students. However, registration is required and can be found on the myBarry dashboard. All meals and activities are provided at no cost for attendees.
Resident students are welcome to invite up to 2 guests to accompany them for Move-In day on Wednesday, August 23.
All in-person Orientation sessions and activities on August 24 & 25 are designed to be attended only by the new students. During this time, students will enjoy interactive activities, workshops, and information sessions designed to enhance their transition to Barry and learn what it means to Live a Barry Life!
We recommend that students wear comfortable clothing and shoes to New Student Orientation. This includes shorts, T-shirts, sneakers, or sandals. We also recommend bringing an additional layer such as a sweatshirt or long-sleeved shirt, just in case. Many sessions will take place indoors with air conditioning although some activities may include walking around campus and sitting outside on the grass. South Florida weather is often unpredictable so you might also want to have an umbrella with you in case of rain.
We also recommend students be prepared with a QR code reader on their phone to scan in during check-in as well as the various activities planned throughout the day.
All new students who will be living on campus for the upcoming school year are expected to move in on August 23 to their residence hall. You will receive an email from Housing and Residence Life with more details.
Commuter students are expected to participate in both days of New Student Orientation. Parking is available for all commuter students.
Several of the local hotels offer a corporate rate for Barry University guests and families.
All undergraduate students (excluding those enrolled in Extended Learning/PACE and fully online programs) and all graduate students residing in University housing or attending classes on an F-1 or J-1 visa are required to provide/complete the following information.
