Hometown: I was born and raised in beautiful Miami, Florida.
Degree: In 2017, I received my Juris Doctor with an Honors Certificate in Children and Families from Dwayne O. Andreas, Barry University School of Law. In 2014, I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Criminal Justice and a Certificate in Professional and Public Writing.
What I like best about Barry University: My favorite thing about Barry University is the small class sizes and scholarship opportunities. The close professional relationships you are able to build with your classmates and professors is what makes your school experience that much more special, being in a large classroom makes this difficult to achieve. Looking for a school with great scholarship opportunities helps receive a bachelor’s degree with little to no debt. This is very important for students to consider especially for those that plan to receive a master's or doctoral degree because there are not as many scholarship opportunities available for graduate and professional programs. Many students have the common misconception that private schools are more expensive but the reality is that attending a private school is at times less expensive due to the variety of scholarships available.
College search tip: Make a list of all of your interested schools (both in-state and out-of-state). Include in this list tuition cost, cost for room & board if applicable, cost for food, class size, programs of interest, admittance status, scholarship award, and what attracts you most/least about the school. Once you have made this list analyze the results and see which school scores above the rest. Writing it down on paper helps you see the bigger picture as well as the small details which can make all the difference on selecting the right school. My parents recommended I do this when I was a Junior in High School and I cannot thank them enough for it because it helped me realize my first choice school was not the right school for me. Some schools seem perfect online or due to its popularity but that does not mean it is the perfect school for you.
My favorite thing to do in Miami: My favorite thing to do in Miami is go out on the boat and spend the day on the water relaxing while my boyfriend fishes.
