Dean Altman, SPHR, is Human Resources Manager for Service America. He oversees staffing, employee relations, compensation and training. Dean has participated in the development of questions for PHR and SPHR examinations through workshops conducted by the Human Resource Certification Institute. He previously served as a board member of the Human Resource Association of Broward County. Dean has an MBA degree with a Human Resources Management concentration from The University of Texas and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Rice University. Dean has had his Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification since 1995. Dean has 20 years of HR experience in staffing, training & development, management and director-level positions. He has been teaching HR Certification courses for Barry since 2006.
Michael Anderson, SPHR, GPHR is an Assistant Director with Miami-Dade County, Team Metro. Mr. Anderson has over 17 years of public sector service experience and he is committed to the provision of value-added services to our constituents. Current responsibilities include overseeing departmental functions related to Human Resources, Performance Measurement, Customer Service, Fiscal Management, Management Information Systems and other administrative functions. Mr. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Masters Degree of Management in Human Resources from Florida International University. Mr. Anderson currently serves on the Board of the Miami-Dade League of Women Voters and the ASPIRA Local Advisory Council.
Bill Collins, SPHR, GPHR, is a senior member of the Strategic Planning Team for Miami-Dade County’s Human Resources Department with more than 12 years of HR experience. His varied duties for the county include participation in the development of business plans and performance management measures, project management, coordinating countywide succession planning and mentoring initiatives, and serving as an internal consultant to departments on HR matters. An expert on disability issues, Mr. Collins has been recognized for creating innovative best practices by numerous organizations, including the Society of Human Resources Management, the National Association of Counties, and the Florida Governor's Alliance for the Employment of Citizens with Disabilities. Mr. Collins completed his undergraduate work at the University of the State of New York with graduate studies at the University of Miami School of Law and Florida International University. He has been teaching HR Certification courses for Barry since 2009.
Marlene Frasca, SPHR, has more than twenty years of experience in management positions in human resources in the healthcare industry. To add value as a business partner, Marlene achieved certification as a Healthcare Risk Manager and completed the state requirements for an Assisted Living Administrator.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and earned a Master’s degree in Human Resources Development and Administration from Barry University.
Ms. Frasca is an Adjunct Instructor at Keiser, South, Barry and Lynn Universities and is a member of the Executive Volunteer Corp of Nonprofits First in Palm Beach County. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Professional Development Committee for the Human Resource Association of Palm Beach County.
Marilyn M. Jenkins, Ph.D., SPHR, GPHR: Dr. Marilyn Jenkins serves as Assistant Professor, Academic Coordinator for Administration, Human Resource Management, and Financial Planning for the School of Professional And Career Education at Barry University. Dr. Jenkins earned her Ph.D. in Education & Leadership with a Specialization in Human Resource Development from Barry University. She earned a M.S. in Human Resource Management and a B.A. in Sociology from La Roche College, Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to working at Barry University Dr. Jenkins worked at La Roche College as Executive Assistant to the President, and was a HR practitioner in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Jalane Meloun, GPHR, SPHR, is the Academic Coordinator of Human Resource Management and Assistant Professor of Human Resources Management at Barry University. She earned a Best Paper Award from the International Personnel Management Association for Human Resources (IPMAAC-HR). Dr. Meloun is the CEO of Meloun Consulting. She has a Ph.D. and Master's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Akron. Dr. Meloun has earned teaching awards at Barry University and Kent State University.
Cindy Oliver, SPHR : as Director of Human Resources for Terremark Worldwide, Cindy Oliver is responsible for enhancing the Company’s recruitment efforts and developing training programs for employees. In addition, Ms. Oliver ensures Terremark is compliant with state and federal employment laws and develops comprehensive reports regarding employment trends at Terremark that help identify challenges and opportunities for the Company. Her work has resulted in a reduction of 10% in worker’s compensation costs. Ms. Oliver has also implemented drug-free workplace and safety programs while at Terremark.
Prior to joining Terremark, Ms. Oliver served as Director of Human Resources for Avborne Heavy Maintenance. At Avborne, she directed all aspects of the human resources department for the aviation company with 800 employees and $55 million in annual sales. Ms. Oliver’s more than 25 years of experience include positions with Baptist Health Systems of South Florida, where she developed affirmative action plans for the organization and managed employee relations, Unisa America, and The Palace.
Patricia Shoemaker, SPHR, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Barry University and Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Webster University. Having several years experience in the Human Resources profession, she has also instructed at the college level and facilitated PHR/SPHR preparation classes.
Jeffrey Weiner, SPHR/GPHR, is the Global Vice President of Human Resources for The Results Companies in Dania Beach, FL. Previously Mr. Weiner held Senior HR Management positions with JGWPT (Peachtree/JG Wentworth), Intelligroup, JBHunt Transport and Flarion Technologies. He has chaired the HR Track for the NJ Technology Council and co-chaired the NJ Pass-It-On-Program. Mr. Weiner has taught at Berkeley College, Mercer Community College and at the RH Smith School of Business (University of Maryland). He has been published in various publications and received his PHR from the Society of Human Resource Management in 1996, his SPHR in 2007 and his GPHR in 2009.
Mr. Weiner has a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in Hospitality Management and a Masters from Nova Southeastern University in Human Resource Management.
