Barry University offers a variety of academic programs that academically prepare graduates to sit for professional licensure or certification in the State of Florida. Since requirements may vary from state to state, the information below may help you determine if the Barry program meets the licensure or certification requirements in your state.

College of Arts & Sciences

  • The Department of Psychology offers the Master of Science (M.S.) Degree in Clinical Psychology. Master’s degree programs in clinical psychology are currently not accredited by the American Psychological Association and ours is not accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
  • Under the current law, as a related field the 60-credit option of the program is designed to prepare the student to meet the current educational requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. However, beginning July 1, 2025 an applicant must have a master's degree from a program that is accredited by CACREP, therefore, our students will no longer be eligible for licensure.
  • The Department has determined that:

  • The MS and EdS in Montessori programs are accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE). In addition, the Barry University Montessori Teacher Education Program (TEP) is affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS).
  • All graduates of the Montessori MS/EdS programs are eligible for an AMS Credential upon completion of the Early Childhood or Elementary I-II program.
  • Barry University has not determined whether the MS/EdS in Montessori programs meet the educational requirements to apply for licensure/certification or endorsements outside of Florida.

The Juris Doctor program at Barry University School of Law is accredited by the American Bar Association. Pursuant to 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v) this is notification that the program of legal study leading to a Juris Doctor degree at Barry University School of Law meets the educational requirements to apply for admission to every state's bar as well as the District of Columbia. However, some states may have some additional requirements to be eligible for admission.   • The Juris Doctor program holds accreditation from the American Bar Association
  • The degree meets the professional licensure requirement in the state of Florida.
  • While the degree meets the professional licensure requirement to apply for admission in all states outside of Florida, including the District of Columbia, some states may have some additional requirements to be eligible for admission. School of Podiatric Medicine

  • The Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) program is accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME).
  • The DPM program meets educational degree requirements to apply for a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine license in Florida and every other state. Applicants must also complete approved post-graduate medical training to qualify for licensure.

School of Social Work

  • The Master of Social Work (MSW) is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
