ACCOPE In Liberty City

Trauma-Informed Care Training and Consultation

The Advanced Clinical & Community Practice and Education (ACCOPE) program is dedicated to promoting well-being among children and families through the delivery of trauma informed services.

ACCOPE is a field education placement site that is staffed by Bachelors and Masters level social work interns who provide a range of social work services such as individual, group, and family therapy, case management, and advocacy, to children and families in the Liberty City community. The ACCOPE program office is housed at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center where student interns will collaborate with school personnel as well as members of the Miami Children’s Initiative (MCI) to best serve the children and families of this community.

Another key component of ACCOPE is a commitment to engaging Bachelors and Masters level social work interns in organizational and community level change to include advancing trauma informed practices at all levels. Importantly, student interns will benefit from specialized training that will support the delivery of trauma informed, developmentally, and culturally relevant services to clients and the community. Trainings will be coordinated by the Center for Human Rights and Social Justice and delivered by Barry University Social Work Faculty as well as other professionals in the field and will focus on advancing community and clinical practice associated with trauma informed practice. Trainings include but are not limited to:
