Student Animal Legal Defense Fund

Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law

Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law Student Animal Legal Defense Fund Barry’s Chapter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund follows the mission and goals of the national organization, which provides advocacy through the legal system to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals.

Founded in 1979 by attorneys active in shaping the emerging field of animal law, ALDF has blazed the trail for stronger enforcement of anti-cruelty laws and more humane treatment of animals in every corner of American life. Today, ALDF’s groundbreaking efforts to end the suffering of abused animals are supported by thousands of dedicated attorneys and more than 100,000 members.

Barry’s Chapter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund works with local organizations to advocate for and educate on the behalf of all animals.  Our goals are to increase respect, a sense of responsibility, and awareness of critical issues, both on campus and throughout our community.  As future lawyers, it is our intent to achieve these goals through the legal system.

The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund also creates opportunities for our members to meet and network with legal professionals in the area of animal law, to participate in fun and interesting pro-bono events, and to enjoy the camaraderie of other members of the Barry community. We welcome new members, questions, and suggestions.
