Dr. Calvin J. Rushing attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology before heading to Barry University and receiving his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. Dr. Rushing graduated in the Class of 2016 as valedictorian and remained in South Florida to complete his residency, with the added credential of Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery, at Westside Regional Medical Center. Following the completion of residency, he went on to a fellowship in advanced reconstruction at the prestigious Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center in Worthington, Ohio. There he honed his skills among some of the world’s most renowned fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons from both podiatric and orthopedic backgrounds. Dr. Rushing is an avid surgeon-researcher, educator, and innovator, who has become nationally known for his research on a broad number of topics including total ankle joint replacement, mal-reduction of the ankle syndesmosis, and physician burnout. He is the author of a number of peer-reviewed manuscripts, the recipient of several awards, and speaks regularly at national society meetings, webinars, and on podcasts. After eight years away from his home state, Dr. Rushing will return to Texas in the fall of 2020 to join an orthopedic group in Dallas. He specializes in advanced reconstruction of the foot and ankle, with particular interest in revision surgery, total ankle joint replacement, deformity correction, sports injuries, and trauma.
