Highlighting Our Diverse Heritage

Celebrating Our Community

The Office of Mission Integration and Institutional Belonging nurtures Barry University’s diverse community by observing and celebrating meaningful cultural, religious, and social events, including Haitian Heritage Month, Juneteenth, Florida Emancipation Day, Ramadan, Shabbat Dinners, Pride celebrations, and more. These occasions offer opportunities to learn from one another, deepen understanding across differences, and grow together in shared purpose. Guided by Barry’s Dominican heritage, the Office fosters a campus where every member feels welcomed and valued, and where engagement with diverse traditions and experiences strengthens our community and our commitment to the common good.

In moments of tragedy, injustice, or social division, Barry University intentionally creates spaces for our community to come together in solidarity, reflection, and hope. Rooted in our Catholic, Dominican tradition, we gather in prayer when appropriate and always in thoughtful dialogue and contemplation, recognizing the dignity of every person and our shared humanity. These moments invite us not only to accompany those who are grieving, hurting, or feeling isolated, but also to deepen relationships across differences and discern how we are called to respond. Inspired by the Dominican commitment to truth, justice, and the common good, we seek to transform reflection into collective action that promotes peace, advances justice, and strengthens a campus community where every person is seen, valued, and supported.
