What You’ll Need to Apply

We take a holistic approach, so you don’t need everything to be perfect to get started.
To have your application reviewed, you’ll need:

  • Completed application
  • Transcripts from all secondary (high school) and any post-secondary institutions

Submitting Transcripts

You can upload unofficial transcripts to get your application reviewed quickly. Once admitted, you’ll need to have your official transcripts sent directly from your school to Barry to complete your file.

Tip: Request these early to avoid delays

Application Deadline

Barry University accepts applications on a rolling basis. That means that we review applications as they come in and send out decisions shortly after.

While this gives you the flexibility to decide your next steps, it’s best to apply with a start term in mind. Applying well before the start term opens doors to financial support and scholarships, ideal class schedules, preferred housing options, and so much more!

*Please note that general admission to Barry University does not guarantee acceptance into all academic majors. Consult the academic requirements for your academic area of interest.

**If you are an international student, applying too close to the start of the semester may not allow enough time to secure your student visa and make travel arrangements.

First-Time Freshman Application Process

  1. Submit your Application. Complete your online undergraduate application or apply through the Common App.
  2. Submit your Transcripts. Send transcripts from all secondary (high school) and any post-secondary institutions.
Tip: You may upload unofficial transcripts for a quicker admissions decision. To finalize your enrollment, official transcripts must be sent directly to Barry.
  3. Choose Your Path for Admission. At Barry, there’s more than one way to apply. Choose the option that works best for you:
  • Apply without submitting SAT or ACT scores. This is a great option if your grades reflect your potential, even without test scores.

    • Applications are reviewed based on academic performance in high school
    • A 2.5+ GPA may be considered for most majors
  • You can choose to include SAT or ACT scores with your application. You may:

    • Self-report your scores on your application. (Official scores are only required if you are admitted and choose to enroll.)
    • Or request official scores be sent directly:
      • SAT code: 5053
      • ACT code: 0718
  • Submit:

    • Official GED results
    • High school transcripts documenting your secondary education

When to submit scores:

  • If your scores strengthen your application
  • If you are interested in:
    • Florida’s Bright Futures eligibility
    • Honors Program
    • STEM programs
    • Additional scholarship opportunities

For reference:

  • Consideration may begin at SAT 880 / ACT 17
  • If your scores are above our average (SAT 1011 / ACT 20), we strongly encourage submission

After You Apply: What Happens Next?

Once you submit your application:

  1. You’ll receive access to your myBarry portal
  2. We’ll review your application
  3. You may be contacted if anything is missing
  4. You’ll receive your admissions decision and merit scholarship at the same time

You can track everything in your portal along the way.
