Biography
Lisa Ferrand, PhD, APRN, CRNA is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health & Wellness at Barry University. A member of the Barry University faculty since 2020, she has served in several academic and governance leadership roles, including Faculty Senator, Chair of the Faculty Excellence Committee, and Chair of the Anesthesiology Readmittance Committee.
Dr. Ferrand’s academic and professional expertise spans nurse anesthesiology, genomics, and obstetric women’s health. She holds a Ph.D. in Nursing, a Master of Science in Anesthesiology, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Barry University. Her scholarship focuses on genomic literacy among practitioners, obstetric health, and the integration of AI foundations for educators, with peer-reviewed work appearing in the AANA Journal Online. She is also deeply committed to student research advising, serving as Chair and Advisor for numerous Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) scholarly projects.
In addition to her scholarly work, Dr. Ferrand provides significant professional and community leadership. She serves as Co-Chair of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) Pain Research Interest Group and is a National Institute of Health (NIH) Scholar appointee for the Inter-Society Coordinating Committee for Practitioner Education in Genomics. Within the community, she is a CCD Instructor and a long-time supporter of The Caring Place/Broward Outreach and Women in Distress. Her commitment to excellence in the field has been recognized through honors such as the Five-Year Service Award from Barry University and induction into Sigma Theta Tau, the national nursing honor society.
