Biography
Dr. Cooperman has been a practicing Physician Associate since 2003, with clinical experience in emergency medicine and urgent care. She is licensed in the state of Florida and maintains certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
An active leader in the PA profession, Dr. Cooperman is a member of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA), where she serves as Chair of the Faculty Relations Committee. She is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA). From 2012 to 2015, she served on the Board of Directors of the Broward County Medical Association.
Since entering PA education in 2009, Dr. Cooperman has held a variety of academic leadership and faculty roles and has advanced to the rank of Professor of Medical Education. She served as Program Director of the Barry University Physician Assistant Program from 2018 to 2026, providing leadership during a period of significant growth and innovation in PA education.
Dr. Cooperman earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Clinical Medical Science from Barry University, and a Doctor of Health Science degree with a concentration in Healthcare Education from Nova Southeastern University.
She has delivered numerous poster and podium presentations at regional and national conferences and is a contributing author to a physician assistant certification review text. In 2013, she was inducted into the Pi Alpha National Honor Society for Physician Assistants. Her scholarly and professional interests include adult learning theory, student engagement, leadership in health professions education, and the teaching of biomedical ethics.
