Dr. Robert J. Snyder Joins the Faculty at Barry University's School of Podiatric Medicine

Dr. Robert J. Snyder, a podiatric physician and surgeon for more than 30 years and leading wound care specialist, joins the faculty at Barry University's School of Podiatric Medicine. Snyder begins his new role as a professor and director of clinical research this January.

Snyder joins Barry from private practice at University Hospital in Tamarac, Florida, where he is director of the Wound Healing Center. Snyder, who serves on the editorial advisory boards of Ostomy Wound Management and WOUNDS and reviews articles for the New England Journal of Medicine, will teach student doctors about wound management, limb preservation and research at Barry.

"I am delighted to work with podiatry students at Barry University," said Snyder. "I have many goals I would like to achieve; one of them is to create a post-doctoral fellowship in wound management and limb preservation."

A published author of more than 100 peer reviewed and trade journals, manuscripts, and book chapters concerning topics ranging from malignancies to wound care, Snyder will head the school's research division. For 15 years, he has been involved in clinical research and has performed several randomized-controlled trials as principal investigator and is founder of both the South Florida Wound Care Group and Snyder Wound Research Institute.

Snyder earned his DPM from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and is currently earning his Master of Science in Wound Management and Tissue Science, from Cardiff University, University of Wales College of Medicine in the UK. He completed his residency training in podiatric medicine and surgery at the Jewish Memorial Hospital, New York and his second year residency at the Metro-Plaza Surgical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.

An active researcher, Snyder is a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. In addition, he is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Wound Management, (Certified Wound Specialist) and sits on the Board of Directors as president. Snyder also serves on the Executive Board of Directors as president-elect of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care.
