Barry has the only Clinical Psychology master’s program in Florida that offered everything I needed to pursue my goal of receiving a Ph.D. -- research, clinical, and teaching experience, and it meets the requirements for licensure as a mental health counselor. I focused my thesis at Barry on the stigma surrounding mental health in Pakistan. I’m now working on my Ph.D. in Adult Clinical Psychology at the University of Miami and helping to create culturally-informed treatments (CIT) for Muslim Americans and other religious/spiritually-inclined populations. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the guidance and support of the exceptional professors and mentors at Barry. My advice to current students in the program is to soak in as much as possible from professors, learn what self-care looks like for you, find your meaning, and enjoy the process. You will never have as much time as you do now, so invest in yourself."

Salman Ahmad

I completed my undergraduate and graduate degree with the amazing professors in this department. Barry University provided the opportunities that lead me into my career: Working for Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) Youth Development Division, better known as Miami-Dade County Teen Court. I am also an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department where I teach Introductory Psychology. After obtaining my Master's from Barry, I earned my certification as Master Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP), and I am certified IC&RC Addiction Counselor. The Clinical Psychology program focuses on professionalism and personal growth -- both of which have cultivated my path and aided in my decision-making."
