Biography
Schebania Charles is an experienced nursing educator and advanced practice nurse with a diverse background in acute and critical care, emergency, cardiac, telemetry, correctional, travel ICU nursing, primary care, wellness, aesthetic medicine, and psychiatric-mental health. She brings a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical judgment, patient safety, holistic care, and student development.
After serving Barry University for three years as an adjunct nursing faculty member, Professor Charles was selected for a full-time Instructor of Nursing position. Professor Charles provides didactic and clinical instruction in undergraduate nursing coursework while working toward expanding her teaching into graduate-level nursing education. She facilitates case studies and simulations, develops learning activities, and mentor’s students in their academic and professional development. Her teaching interests include advanced health assessment, pharmacology, acute and complex adult health, cardiovascular and critical care, primary care, wellness and preventive health, psychiatric-mental health nursing, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Broward College, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree from Barry University, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from St. Thomas University.
Her professional experience includes clinical nursing leadership, emergency and telemetry nursing, correctional nursing, travel ICU nursing, clinical nursing supervision, and five years of advanced practice experience in primary care, wellness, and aesthetic medicine.
