Information for Barry University Commencement

During Commencement, we recognize the achievements, diligence, and hard work of our graduates as they celebrate this important milestone in their academic careers. On this page, you will find information regarding event dates and locations, ticketing and logistics as it becomes available.

Students with degree conferral dates between October 2025 through August of 2026 and have applied for graduation are eligible to participate in the May 2026 commencement. Doctoral Programs may have some exclusions, consult with Program Director for additional information. 

Commencement Activities are scheduled to take place between May 2nd, 2026 - May 12th, 2026. 

All communications regarding commencement will be sent to graduates at their @mymail.barry.edu email addresses.

Cap & Gown

Students with degree conferral dates between October 2025 through August of 2026 and have applied for graduation are eligible to participate in the May 2026 commencement. These students will be receiving a communication to their student email providing additional details regarding commencement. 

Barry University Bachelor and Masters graduates wear a gown that is totally recyclable. Each Eco-Friendly gown reduces the amount of material recycled by using 27 plastic bottles that will not end up in a landfill. Along with saving bottles from the landfill, each gown gives back to the Environment and introduces another avenue for sustainability.

Applying For Graduation

To be considered for a degree, all students are required to complete an online graduation application in the  Student Portal. Before applying, it is highly recommended that students review the appropriate degree conferral date with their academic advisors. 

Before submitting the graduation application, students should meet with their academic advisor to determine the appropriate degree conferral date.

To apply, students must log in to Student Portal and select “Graduation Overview,” then “Apply.”

Upon submitting the graduation applications, students will receive a graduation application confirmation via email. 

We have a strictly enforced deadlines to apply for graduation. Please visit the Office of the Registrar site to view the Degree Conferral Dates/Deadlines

Please Note: The graduation application is required regardless of whether or not the students plan to participate in Commencement. Students should also check their Barry email regularly for important communications about the graduation application or graduation status.

Graduation Fee

  • Students Registering to receive a bachelor's or Master's degree will pay $200.00.
  • Students registering to receive a Doctoral degree will pay a $250.00 fee.

The graduation fee applies to all graduating students regardless of whether or not you attend the ceremony. The fee covers the cost of verifying degree completion, producing and shipping diplomas, a cap & gown, the Graduation Survey, and other items associated with offering the graduation ceremony.

Exit Interviews

Have you borrowed Federal Student Loans?

If you are graduating and have borrowed Federal student loans, you are required by Federal regulations to fill out a student Loan Exit Interview prior to graduation. 

You may also visit a Financial Aid Counselor to discuss important information regarding repayment of your student loan repayment options, deferments, forbearance, consolidation, your legal rights and responsibilities, and to provide helpful tips in managing your student loans.

Undergraduates OnlyGraduating With Honors

In order to qualify for graduation with Honors, an undergraduate student must have taken a minimum of 56 credit hours at Barry carrying letter grades of A, B, C, or D, and must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above.

Only courses taken at Barry are computed in determining honors. The GPA will be rounded using the third decimal place.

 

 

Students who are elected to National Honor Societies receive honor cords from the moderators of the respective honor society.

Diploma

Your diploma will not be awarded at the time of Commencement. You will receive your diploma approximately six weeks after the date of graduation through the mail. For more information visit, Office of the Registrar-Diplomas.
