Belkis Landa-Gonzalez, EdD, OTR/L

Belkis Landa-Gonzalez earned her Bachelor’s in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami in 1986. While working as a Research Specialist, she completed an MS degree in Occupational Therapy at Florida International University. She returned to Florida International University to complete her Doctorate in Higher Education Instruction and Leadership. Dr. Landa-Gonzalez has extensive clinical and consultative experience with a variety of populations from children to older adults in acute and rehabilitation hospitals, home-health, and private settings. She managed the occupational therapy departments for several local rehabilitation facilities and served as the President of the South Florida Leadership Forum before joining the faculty at Barry in 1996. Her clinical and research interests include gerontology, neuro-rehabilitation, wellness, and leadership. Dr. Landa-Gonzalez has been recognized for her leadership by the Florida Occupational Therapy Association, with the 2008 Louise Samson Leadership Award, and with the American Occupational Therapy & Occupational Therapy Foundation Director’s Leadership Fellowship Award. She has also been the recipient of the Gail A. Hills Alumni Award of Excellence in recognition of her scholarship in occupational therapy and of the Cambridge VIP member of Who’s Who for Excellence in Physical Rehabilitation recognition. Dr. Landa-Gonzalez serves as the Chair of the Gerontology Special Interest section of the Florida Occupational Therapy Association. In her leisure time, Dr. Landa-Gonzalez enjoys target shooting, gardening, and arts and crafts.
